About Us

The International Student Societies Unit at Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) is composed of both domestic and international students. We provide a welcoming environment away from home where students can celebrate shared heritage while exploring new cultural experiences. Our unit values diversity and is committed to embracing and promoting different cultural backgrounds. We serve not only international societies but also all students, regardless of nationality, within the multicultural space of EMU. Our activities and initiatives are guided by the principle of Living Together – Harmony, fostering respect, collaboration, and inclusivity across the entire university community.

Our Mission

• Represent, support, and govern all international students, their societies, and the broader student body at EMU.
• Collaborate with various associations to ensure that the experience of all students at EMU is enriching, inclusive, and culturally engaging.
• Offer opportunities for students to share their own cultures and personal experiences.
• Organize culturally engaging events through international student societies and cross-cultural initiatives.
• Serve as a communication bridge between students, their societies, the University, and the wider community of Northern Cyprus.
• Welcome and assist new students in adapting to campus life, the University, and their new surroundings.
• Ensure that all students maximize their time at EMU and in Northern Cyprus by promoting social engagement, cultural exchange, and opportunities to connect with peers from around the world.
• Support students in developing their academic knowledge through practical experiences, enabling them to integrate theory with practice and strengthen their skills for future professional and scholarly pursuits.
