General Information

The Activities Unit is a department that organizes social, cultural, and artistic events (welcoming and placement of new students, conferences, panels, concerts, theaters, artist talks, and festivals) for our university students, local community, and island residents. Our aim is to help students make the best use of their extracurricular time, support their personal development, and improve their quality of life. Additionally, it operates under the Student Council.

The events we organize constitute a large part of media visibility and play an active role in promoting our university.

Our Mission: To create an active and participatory campus life at our university.
Our Vision: To contribute to the development of students' social responsibility, creativity, and leadership skills through events.

ROCK'N EMU

This event is organized for rock music lovers among our students, staff, and the public. The event features our university's rock bands alongside local rock music groups, as well as a famous rock band from Turkey. For 11 years, this event has become a signature event on the island. In previous years, famous groups such as Grup Red, Kurban, Gripin, Hayko Cepkin, Gitarizma, Pentagram, Mor ve Ötesi, and Duman have performed spectacular concerts.

SPRING FESTIVAL

Organized annually in May by the Directorate of Social and Cultural Activities, this large event aims to contribute to the social and cultural development of our students outside their academic work. It is attended by our university students, staff, and local residents. The festival, which attracts approximately 60,000 participants every year, begins with a parade and continues for 4 days with various stands, workshops, cultural and artistic activities, sports events, dance shows, conferences, and concerts by famous local and international artists. Past performers include Sertap Erener, MFÖ, Athena, Hadise, Edis, Şebnem Ferah, Murat Boz, Anathema, and Sıla.

SAND SCULPTURE FESTIVAL

The Sand Sculpture Festival Competition is held annually in cooperation with the Faculty of Architecture at DAÜ Marine Facilities. This event, which welcomes summer, is unique among island universities. The festival brings together the people of Gazimağusa and university students and receives high participation every year.

FALL AND SPRING ORIENTATION DAYS

Orientation Days are organized to welcome, place, and support students newly enrolled in our university at the start of the academic term. The event aims to provide students with accurate information and help them adapt quickly and safely to campus life as they take their first steps at the university.

STUDENT COUNCIL

The activities of the Student Council are supervised by the Vice Rector through the Activities Unit, which is affiliated with the Directorate of Social and Cultural Activities.

The Student Council was established to represent the views of students registered in faculties, vocational schools, and the preparatory school regarding their educational, health, sports, and cultural needs; to communicate these views to the administrative bodies; and to facilitate communication between the university management and students.

Student Council elections are held once every academic year, and the elected board serves until the announcement of the next election results. The council operates according to the establishment and working principles of the DAÜ Student Council Directive.
