A Nowruz event was held at EMU Activity Center with the participation of Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Pakistan, India, Iran, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan Student Societies.
Recognized as one of the oldest festivals, Nowruz means “A New Day” and symbolizes rebirth and affirmation of living in harmony with nature. Indicating the beginning of spring, Nowruz is globally celebrated with various events.
In their opening speeches, EMU Student Societies expressed their wish for Nowruz to bring happiness to the world and extended their festive greetings to all.
Attending the event, EMU Vice Rector for Promotion and Institutional Communication Prof. Dr. Ali Öztüren delivered a speech, extending his greetings for the Nowruz and wishes for a year full of health, success and happiness.
Following the speeches, student societies delivered musical and dance performances. Students showed great interest in the event, attending with their traditional outfits. They also presented their cultural dishes to the participants’ taste.
